The 2017 DC Construction Codes Supplement, based on the 2015 I-Code Family, including the 2015 IRC, was adopted on 5/21/2020 and became effective upon publication in the DC Register on 5/29/2020. Although DC replaces IRC Chapter 1 with its amended IBC Chapter 1, its amended IBC Chapter 1 includes flood-resistant administrative provisions either within Chapter 1 itself or by a reference to Appendix G within Chapter 1. DC has begun reviewing the 2021 I-Codes for adoption by 2023. (3/16/2021)

If you receive a gray color-coded finding for your search area, your community’s residential building code adoption status may not be available; however, you may contact your local government for the information. Please keep in mind that mobile homes and manufactured housing are not constructed using the residential building code reflected in this analysis, so this website is not applicable to those types of structures.
