Idaho has adopted the 2018 IBC with an effective date of 1/1/2021. Local jurisdictions which adopt or enforce a building code must use the state code. Local jurisdictions are not required to adopt and enforce a code and in those jurisdictions builders are not required to adhere to the state building code. (10/20/2020)

If you receive a gray color-coded finding for your search area, your community’s residential building code adoption status may not be available; however, you may contact your local government for the information. Please keep in mind that mobile homes and manufactured housing are not constructed using the residential building code reflected in this analysis, so this website is not applicable to those types of structures.
