Hello from index.php

Tennessee’s current adopted statewide building code is the 2012 IBC. However, jurisdictions may opt out of state building code by a 2/3 vote of the city or county’s legislative body. Jurisdictions may also choose to adopt and enforce a different code than the State code, but they cannot adopt and enforce a code older than 7 years compared to the most recently published version. If their code is older than the 7 year cutoff, then the State code (2012 IBC) applies. With the publication of the 2021 IBC, this means anything older than the 2015 IBC will trigger the State override. (11/20/2020)
